The International CommitteeMeet Students from all over the World! In today's society, our world is decreasing in size every day. This makes cross-cultural comprehension an invaluable asset. This is where the International Committee comes into the picture. The International Committee takes care of the international students arriving in Lund and Helsingkrona every semester. Our goal is to make sure that the international students as soon as possible meet new friends, get to know student life in Lund and swedish culture. Through a series of events, we aim to integrate international and swedish students in Lund. Another task is to prepare members of Helsingkrona for studies abroad. Some of the activites carried out during autumn 2009 were: - Language exchange (continously) - Crayfish Party (Fri, Aug 28th): August doesn't get more swedish than this! Smörgåsbord and a huge party. - International Story Evening: members share stories and culture from their homes (Sun, Sep 27th) - Art Tour at AF-borgen (Tue, Oct 13th) - Game Night: play board games and Guitar Hero with us (Sun, Oct 18th) - Book Club (NATU committee): Read classic novels and discuss these with others. Send an E-mail to Natu - Ice-skating, spa and sauna (November) - International Ball (Sat, Nov 21st) - Christmas baking and Lucia celebration (Sun, Dec 13th) Activites planned for spring 2009 include: - Campus Tours (Fri, Jan 15th) - Swedish language tutoring and Language Exchange (flexible schedule) - "Sunday Fun", section meetings Sundays of odd weeks (various themes) - Ice skating, Sauna and Party (Thurs, Feb 11th) - International Food Market (Sat, 27 feb) - Waffle Day celebration: waffles and more (Thurs, March 25th) - Paintball (April) - The International Ball, Swedish cooking, Try-Aikido class, Feel Good Day (Dates not yet fixed) - Burnball and BBQ (May) Are you interested in meeting people from all over the world while getting to know the student life in Lund and swedish culture better, don't hesitate to join the International Committee!
